1972, Copenhagen Denmark. The university is booming and Faculty of Humanities are outgrowing their space in the historic center of Copenhagen.
A temporary space is found further from the city center – on the island of Amager. Land is cheap and space is plenty. Construction begins – things are kept cheap, after all this is only a temporary solution. KUA is born.
2013, the massive concrete temple is still standing. It is however completely worn out, tired, hollow – and finally empty! More than forty years after construction began, the last building is now being taken down – a permanent solution has been found…
Kasper Nybo with Sploosh was invited inside for a final tour of the empty buildings. We came to capture the intense quietness leaving an echo in the long hallways. And now we’re extremely excited to share with you the last stories of the empty rooms, walls and halls housing thousands and thousands of people over the last 40 temporary years.
